You might have seen my previous post of a pair of shoes that I made, or my exhibition review from the Camper: Life on Foot exhibition, there was one part of that exhibition I didn’t mention in the post, not because I didn’t want to, but I didn’t feel like it was relevant to what I wanted to say then, but it is here.
Each year Camper invites young shoe designers from around the world to work with them to design and create innovative shoes. I was so inspired by some of the designs I just wanted to get home and make some, but that’s not so easy for everyone.
So I thought I’d show you how you can make your own. While I’m not going to divulge the lessons I learnt from ICAN make shoes, I am going to point you in the direction of some fantastic handmade shoe tutorials already free on the internet and some kits you can buy that will help you to make them yourselves.
I am sure that there are plenty more tutorials out there, but these are some that not only look great, but give a little bit of freedom to style them as you wish.
I am certainly going to give some of these a try, and if you have already tried them, let me know how you got on.
