Part 5 of my quest to help those of you who are budding creative hosts, get some ideas flowing and help fine tune the details of a good party, takes the form of a fairy tale theme, probably most popular with the younger ladies, but personally any well themed costume party is right up my street.
In some ways a fairy tale party is similar to a garden party, in the way of decorations, however all we all know Princess and Prince style fairy tales often involve a mix of woodland and epic castle’s. With this in mind there are really two ways you can go with a fairy tale theme, the fairy part with woodlands and interesting Avatar style plants or the castle theme with grandeur and mirrors.
Here are some of my favourite fairy tale party themed findings:
A possible game to play at the party, which is probably more suited to adults that children, but could easily be adapted. Is called ‘Fairy Tales’.
Players are divided into two teams to act out improvised versions of a well known fairy tale, but as famous people rather than themselves. Thus, Little Red Riding Hood might feature Madonna as Red Riding Hood, Barack Obama as the Wolf and Leonardo Di Caprio as the Woodcutter. At the end of each performance, the other team has to guess the fairy story and the double identity of all of the players. If you are blessed with a particularly artistic gathering, you may choose to have the play acted on the style of a famous film director. Quentin Tarantino’s version of Cinderella where the Fairy Godmother turns out the be a serial killer and Buttons dies in a gangland shoot-out invariably proves popular.
Have you got anymore fairytale themed party ideas?
